Membership Overview

The Greater Vancouver Professional Theatre Alliance (GVPTA) is the professional association for live theatre in Metro Vancouver. GVPTA is the only arts service organization specifically focused on professional theatre in British Columbia.

Formed in 1976, and incorporated in 1987, we play a unique role in the community: we offer programs and services to support the development of theatre practitioners as artists and administrators, and ultimately to help strengthen the local theatre industry.

In addition to providing benefits specifically for our membership, we support our members and the broader theatre community through the provision of education, publicity, and opportunities for convening.

As an arts service organization, the GVPTA is responsible and accountable to the theatre community as a whole, beyond our membership. This community includes not only those working in theatre, but those across arts disciplines and sectors. We take cues from our membership and from the broader community as to how we can continue to improve our services and support the industry.

Our membership includes over 70 theatre companies and 120 theatre artists and arts workers; as well as educational institutions and organizations that support the theatre industry.

As a member you’ll be plugged into the middle of this artistic community where you can connect with the region’s most committed theatre artists, gain inspiration, form connections, and be a part of this thriving community.

Who are GVPTA members?

GVPTA’s province-wide membership includes theatre organizations, ensembles, production companies and collectives that produce or present theatrical performances; educational institutions, performing arts venues, arts service organizations, multi-disciplinary and non-theatre arts organizations, and service providers connected with the performing arts; performers, designers, producers, stage managers, production managers, technicians, administrators, consultants, other theatre artists and arts workers, publicists, students, and arts supporters.  You are all invited.
