**NOTE: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 Unified General Auditions are POSTPONED.**
Each spring the GVPTA holds Unified General Auditions (UGAs), an opportunity for local theatre performers to be seen by casting directors from throughout the region. The 2020 UGAs, originally scheduled for April 7 and 8, 2020, have been postponed due to COVID-19.

The UGAs are held and managed on the principles of equity and diversity. We invite performers from all backgrounds including, but not limited to: race, ethnicity, Indigeneity, gender, sexual orientation, class, mental and physical ability.

Director Information

Who can attend the UGAs as a director?

GVPTA Company Members are invited to attend with up to two directors or casting representatives. If you are unsure about your company's membership status, email membership@gvpta.ca.

Independent Directors not affiliated with a GVPTA Company Member may attend if:

  • space is available;
  • they have a track record of directing or producing shows;
  • and are casting for an upcoming show.

Approval will be at the discretion of the GVPTA team. A $50+GST fee will be charged for non-members. Associate Members pay a reduced fee of $20+GST.

How do I register for the UGAs?

A form will be posted when available.

What kind of performers will be auditioning during the UGAs?

Performers who you will see at the UGAs will fall under two different categories:
  1. Full CAEA Members are invited to audition.
  2. Full UBCP or ACTRA Members with theatre credits or education are invited to audition.

All other performers would have been approved by a panel of local theatre directors at the UGA Qualifiers.

For reference: during the 2019 UGAs, there were 103 scheduled performers/auditions and in 2018 there were 79. The number of auditioning performers fluctuate each year.

What can I expect as an attending director?

Each director who attends the UGAs will receive a digital PDF binder with headshots and resumes for all auditioning performers. The GVPTA is not a producing theatre company and will not hold callbacks, so directors are invited to contact performers at a later date if they wish to see them again.

Directors who require a printed binder of all headshots and resumes can request one for an additional fee at the time of registration.

The number of auditioning performers will determine how long each day runs. Directors will receive a break for lunch and a couple coffee breaks. The GVPTA will provide coffee and light snacks at the beginning of the day. Details will be sent to you when your registration is confirmed.
