DiverseTheatreBC Artist Consultations

Thursday, September 13, 2018 3:24 PM | GVPTA (Administrator)

DiverseTheatreBC (DTBC) seeks up to 60 theatre and opera artists who identify as Indigenous and/or racialized (IARA) to participate in facilitated visioning consultations. Every participating artist must self-identify as being Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, or Inuit), or having a racial/cultural heritage originating in Africa, East/Southeast Asia, Latin America, Middle East/Arab/North Africa, South Asia, or be of mixed race that includes one or more of these racial/cultural heritages.

We are interested in hearing your perspectives and ideas about what an ideal online community for Indigenous and racialized artists could look like. In addition to a searchable database – which will enable not only potential engagers to find you, but for you to find your peeps, your collaborators, your accomplices – what other digital tools might facilitate your artistic goals and practices? What do you need? What does your community need? How could an online community disrupt the systemic structures that continue to marginalize the work of IARA? These are just some of the (big!) questions we will be asking you to consider, and we are excited about what our collective artistic imaginations might create together!

Compensation

Each participating IARA will receive an honorarium of $75 for one 3-hour session. Refreshments (sandwiches and non-alcoholic beverages) will be provided.

Accessibility

All venues are fully accessible.

If you require the assistance of ASL interpreters, you may email your request through the online registration form. We will do our absolute best to accommodate you, and giving us as much notice as possible will allow us to do that.

Time Commitment

Three hours, either on a weekday evening or a Saturday afternoon. Participants must be able to attend the entire session in person. No skyping or video/teleconferencing.

Dates and Times

Consultations take place between September 20 and 29. See the list of consultations here. To register, click on the date of the desired session to reach the online registration page. An automated email will be sent to you if you have successfully registered. There is a maximum enrollment of 12 artists for each session.

If your chosen session(s) turn out to be full, we can place you on a waitlist: please email your phone number to DTBC’s Project Manager, along with the date of the session(s) for which you’d like to be placed on the waitlist.

Deadline for Registration:
