Since 2000, GVPTA has produced the annual Making A Scene conference, which has been essential to building and maintaining a community that fosters support, understanding and a common goal of strengthening the local theatre industry. Through presentations, working sessions and plenty of opportunity for social gathering, the day-long conference offers attendees the chance to delve into discussions with colleagues, friends and new acquaintances, all of whom are passionate about theatre.
The 2018 conference was held in collaboration with the BC Alliance for Arts + Culture and produced as Unrestricted.
2019 marks the 20th annual Making A Scene conference. Primary conference programming takes place on May 28 and is co-hosted by SFU Woodward's Cultural Programs at SFU's Goldcorp Centre for the Arts in Vancouver. Special activities and standalone workshops take place as an extension of the conference on May 29 and 30 at The Post at 750 in Vancouver. Learn more here.
