Vancouver's 2016 Unified General Auditions (UGAs)

Each spring the GVPTA holds Unified General Auditions (UGAs), an opportunity for local theatre actors to be seen by casting directors from throughout the region. The 2016 UGAs are set for March 31 and April 1, with the Qualifiers on March 3.

All GVPTA members are entitled to attend the UGAs: theatre companies can send up to two directors, and individuals can attend either as a performer or an independent casting director. (Not a GVPTA member yet? Check out the GVPTA Membership FAQs for details on what it means.)

Performers have up to three minutes during the UGAs to audition in front of all participating casting directors (two minutes during the Qualifiers and during the optional musical auditions). Before attending the UGAs on either March 31 or April 1, performers who are not members of an actors’ union must attend the Qualifiers on March 3 or have qualified for the UGAs in previous years.*

Performers interested in attending should check out this webpage for details on the process they'll need to follow to apply, and then apply by email to auditions@gvpta.ca by Friday, February 19, 2016. NOTE: We are no longer using Theatre Exchange due to technical issues in the past. All applications must be made by email and following the four steps on the webpage noted above.

Casting directors who attend the UGAs will receive a headshot and resume for each attending performer so they can directly contact those performers they wish to see for a specific callback at a later date. Directors interested in attending should check out this webpage for more information and then email producer@gvpta.ca by Friday, February 19, 2016.

Deadline for all 2016 UGA email applications: Friday, February 19, 2016

The UGAs are held and managed on the principle of diversity. We invite performers from all backgrounds including, but not limited to: race, ethnicity, indigeneity, gender, gender identification, sexual orientation, class, and physical ability. As well, our audition panel of directors is meant to reflect as large a cross-section of theatre companies and casting directors as possible.

*Note: Full member Equity, UBCP and ACTRA performers are not required to be a GVPTA member or attend the Qualifiers. And, performers who have qualified for the UGAs in the past are not required to attend the Qualifiers in 2016. These two groups can apply directly to attend the UGAs on either March 31 or April 1. (Performers should identify their status when applying for the UGAs, and union members must present their membership card before auditioning.) See this webpage for details on the UGA application process for all performers.

ABOUT THE GVPTA
The Greater Vancouver Professional Theatre Alliance (GVPTA) is an association of theatre companies, theatre makers, performers, and other organizations and individuals that support the local theatre industry. Our purpose is to collectively promote live theatre and foster a thriving and diverse environment for the continued growth and development of theatre throughout Metro Vancouver.

The GVPTA is not a producing organization and will not hold any callback auditions. Directors will receive a binder containing a headshot and resume for each attending performer so they can directly contact those performers they wish to see for a callback at a later date.
