What is a Unified General Audition (UGA)?
It's where:
- Actors audition once and are seen by a room full of artistic and freelance directors
- Directors and Agents see the rich talent of Metro Vancouver all within a few days
Our sister service organization, The Portland Area Theatre Association (PATA), has been successfully holding UGAs for several years now. We are working with PATA and implementing their years of best practices to develop our own UGA here in Vancouver. You could be a part of it!
Benefits to Member Companies
The UGA will offer a tremendous streamlined opportunity to cast shows for the coming year. Benefits include:
- A consolidated opportunity to see a large number of actors
- Vastly decreased administrative time and costs for companies in their casting processes
- A real savings in time and transportation costs for actors who otherwise must schedule and attend multiple auditions over the course of the season
Benefits to Performers
You will be seen by a large group of artistic directors, freelance directors, and agents who are actively casting shows and projects taking place in the coming season.
A Tested and Successful Process
Last year PATA had 325 pre-screened actors from Portland and across the US northwest audition for approximately 50 auditors from more than 20 Portland and surrounding area theatre companies, plus 20 freelance directors and 2 casting agents over the course of 3 days.
These Directors and representatives of PATA Member Companies saw exceptional value in the Unified Auditions process in Portland for both companies and individuals. A key to their success is a highly-refined structure developed over many years, including a strict pre-screening process for all auditioning actors, and streamlined audition materials packets distributed to each auditor.
PATA is regularly told by theatre companies, agents, and casting directors from as far away as Los Angeles and New York that PATA’s Unified General Auditions are the most efficient and valuable auditioning process they have seen. That’s why we’re taking our lead from the best.
