Job posting: Arts Club hiring 2 positions for new Kids Summer Theatre Lab (application deadline May 1)

The Arts Club Theatre Company is currently accepting applications for two positions for a new educational program to be offered in the summer of 2017. We are looking for an instructor, and someone to assist/accompany the instructor, to teach 14 theatre students, entering grades 5 – 7 this fall. The program will run 9 am – 3 pm on weekdays for two weeks from July 10 to 21, 2017. This program, entitled Kids Theatre Lab at the Arts Club, is in partnership with the Vancouver School Board and will be held at an East Vancouver High School.

 

THE TWO POSITIONS AVAILABLE:

 

1. Summer Musical Theatre Program Instructor

 

Responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Developing a course outline to demonstrate a versatile and adaptive program with an emphasis on student engagement and collaboration.
  • Setting up and striking rehearsal halls/classrooms.
  • Ability to teach a range of musical theatre skills to youth.
  • Ability to provide a flexible program model that is able to follow student engagement and set up a classroom environment where the students are able to participate in course goals and output.
  • Provide feedback and debrief with the Education & Outreach Manager.
  • Ability to attend planning meetings.
  • Coordinate final showcase details.
  • Ability to work with an assistant instructor/accompanist.
  • Final Report writing. 

The successful applicant will have teaching experience in acting, singing and movement. The applicant should have at least 3 years of group teaching experience and be able to provide a criminal record check for working with children.

 

2. Summer Musical Theatre Program Assistant Instructor/Accompanist

 

Responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Assisting the primary instructor with class-room activities, sectional/break-out instruction and supervising.
  • Setting up and striking rehearsal halls/classrooms.
  • Ability to provide musical accompaniment and arrangements on the piano.
  • Provide feedback and debrief with the Education & Outreach Manager.
  • Ability to attend planning meetings.
  • Assist in coordination of final showcase details. 

The successful applicant will have experience both in accompanying and teaching children in a musical theatre setting. The applicant should be able to provide a criminal record check for working with children.
