Making A Scene Conference

"I attended both days of the conference and found all of the speakers and guests incredibly inspiring, and the discussions challenging and thought-provoking. What’s more, as a person new to the Vancouver theatre community, I really appreciated the opportunity to meet such a wide range of people involved with all different areas of Vancouver Theatre. I thought the conference was tremendous and will definitely attend again in 2009!"

"Congratulations on another great conference. I thought the tone and energy at all the sessions re-ignited the community’s commitment to life-long learning."
Simon Johnston

“This conference is so packed with informative and exciting workshops and seminars that it's the must attend event of the arts season.  (MAS) is a great opportunity for all members of the arts community to connect, exchange and learn about the now and future.”

With GEORGE THORN,

At a time when our arts organizations need greater participation by our community partners, we are often getting less. Given today’s realities, it is critical that each organization create the board it needs, rather than the one it is supposed to have. This workshop will focus on ways in which traditional board models and theories are no longer appropriate, and present new approaches and strategies for creating an effective board’s roles, relationships, functions, expectations and structures.
